Promoting Public Art

Supplementary planning guidance is being developed for inclusion in the Local Development Framework in relation to promoting Public Art.

The Arts Council has implied that funding might be available for the development of an arts portal.

The supplementary planning guidance has now been embedded into a number of major projects, including the NDC, War Memorial Park and City Centre developments. Consideration is also being given to the proposal for the project titled “Coventry’s Crown” which considers ways in which the Ring Road might be transformed.

There is no specific requirement to assign a percentage of build costs to public art, but ways in which this can be addressed now have to form part of the planning application.  For further information regarding the Local Development Framework click  here.
